Prophecying to myself

Make the most of this fleeting day.  It's not just another day.  It's like no other day.  There's never been one like it and never again will there be anything like it.  It's summoning your spirit, can you hear it?  It wants you to enter in, to drink deep, to make your mark, to start well and finish strong.  To give of yourself fully.

Don't spend your time, invest it.  Every single second matters, think through your offering and gift it to each moment you're in.  Keep your chin up and widen your gaze.  Life is right there for the taking if you would but posture yourself to see it, teachable and deliberate.  Come in with expectation, but not expectations.  Eager, but without assumptions.  You'll miss so much if you bring an agenda instead of seizing the opportunities that present themselves.  

Let yourself care today.  It might hurt but it's worth it.  It might feel wonderful, too, there's no telling.  But caring is what sets you apart.  No one has ever made a difference without first caring deeply.  It's vulnerable, sure, but it's attractive and generative.  Don't be guarded, take down the defenses and let people in.  Don't hold people at a distance.  Don't pull away from things that make you feel sensitive, exposed, or uncomfortable.  Press in when you feel that instinct to back off.  Leaning toward those things that feel strange is the key to sharing something meaningful with the world.

Don't think something is off when you're encountering resistance.  Resistance is an indication that you're moving, going somewhere else, leaving something behind.  Embrace the gravity pulling you down as a reminder that there is a hidden force trying to stop your progress, your growth, your success.  Shout down invitations to stay put and stand still, those are lies trying to get you to waste your life.  Every time you feel hesitation, move toward the things giving you that feeling.  Don't talk yourself out of difficult things; if they need done, do them.  Nothing makes you feel more alive and fulfilled than doing tough stuff that others shy away from.  Everyone feels the same fear, but only a few fight through the fear to do what's needed, what's right.  Everything you want is on the other side of fear.  

So how about it?  You ready for this?  You want this day to be one for the ages?  Then take the ordinary occasions and mundane moments and inject adventure and joy and possibility into them.  Make people feel special.  Listen attentively.  Ask one more question.  Speak that thing others are nervous to say.  Grab ahold of things that people are avoiding.  Run toward the roar of battle.  The armor of God has no protection for a warriors back, so don't turn and run.  Face life head on.  Stare it down.  Tell it to move.  Go make and do.  Don't just make do.
