Dear Me,

 Dear Me,

Today you can do nothing without Christ, bro, and honestly you don’t want to. Center your mind on that one thought heading into the day and don’t let go of it for anything. Remember that everything you do today is life or death despite the feeling that many hours of your day seem mundane and meaningless.
You will bring life or death into every room you enter. Don’t forget that, buddy. You bring life or death into every encounter you have with friend or stranger. Every word you speak has the power to kill or heal a person’s heart. Select those words wisely. But as you talk, be sure not to talk too much; listen well to people. Ask people questions and listen all the way to the end.
Make your face and your eyes smile today, Jay. Seriously, if you’re happy or hopeful inside, make sure you communicate that to your face. Don’t let your face remain deadpan, tell it to glow so that your countenance may light the wick of the world around you. If you’re sad, allow yourself to be sad without getting pitiful. Self-pity is soul-killing…to you and everyone around you.
Preach encouragement to yourself each morning and then throughout the day…preach to yourself with passion like there’s no tomorrow, train your heart to praise in the pain and sing in the storm. Your soul is stronger than you give it credit for, like a horse glories in carrying its rider, your soul doesn’t need you to feel bad for it, it was meant to carry you and finds its fulfillment in doing so. Talk to your soul like it’s your best friend, Jason.
Before long this day will quickly crash in upon you making you feel like you have no control and then no choice. You will feel like you are a victim of predetermined fate…that’s hogwash. Complete and utter rubbish. Remind yourself of the things you are setting your mind and heart upon right now in this moment, before the day gets a hold of you and chokes out your choices. Jason, above all, remember that you will never get this day back, so don’t trifle with it, don’t wish it were different, be different in it. Are you ready to live today, Jason? Have you got your mark? Ok, let’s do this…On your mark. Get set. Go.”
Sincerely,
Me
