The father waits up north

As his daughters data dump final exams

Pack up bags in dorms of exile

Starting the sojourn to their motherland.

The father waits up north

As daughters nap shotgun

Catching up on lost shuteye

While anticipation keeps one eye open.

The father waits up north

Dreaming of the whole home being home

Two returning to the nest

Not as prodigals, but loved progeny.

The father waits up north

A daydreamer sipping coffee 

His girls are on their way

His home soon to be graced 

With sweet reunion.

I can’t wait.  And so I wait.
