My Prayer for Kami this morning...
My prayer for Kami today...
"God, reveal yourself to Kami in supernatural ways in this next season of her life. Let her feel and know your presence like never before. Let her see and experience your power in a personal way. As Habakkuk said, "Lord, I have heard of your fame and stand in awe of your deeds...renew them in our day, in our time make them known." I ask for you to take her knowledge of you to an intimate level, that it will become hers and that she will take an ownership of her faith like never before.
She has grown up around you, hearing things about you, seeing things you've done, knowing no other life than a life with you intertwined within it. This is a gift for sure, but it also can create an obstacle of familiarity where you are so customary that you have no chance to surprise her or to quicken her spirit by your Spirit. She could be so "used to" you that she doesn't even notice it's not real to her or alive in her. I ask for you to break through that spirit of familiarity and surprise her with your deep love for her and your surpassing goodness.
May she come to appreciate concepts that are just words to her...crucial things like grace that undeserved and unmerited. May she be moved by mercy, Lord. May forgiveness land afresh on her heart and change her. May your love be so overwhelming that she weeps at the thought of your mindfulness of her. May hope rise up in her spirit and carry her along when life seems dark and bleak. May truth be her passionate pursuit...a truth that sets her free. And may freedom reign in her inner being loosing her from the bonds of people-pleasing or self-consciousness. These words, these attributes, these virtues are nothing if they are not known personally and embraced in their fullness. Her casual interaction with these words could easily cause the gospel to be academic and your presence in her life to be a mindless routine. May it never be!
Show her the deep reason for her existence. Give her crystal clear vision for her future and show her the purpose of her life. Not just in a general sense, but in a way that clarifies her reason for being put on this planet. Let her heart feel her unique calling and may that calling, no matter how hard it may be, pulsate inside of her compelling her every day to wake up and chase after your dreams for her life with everything she's got. Don't let her settle for anything less that your perfect plans for her life. Not with her occupation. Not with her relationship with a guy. Not with her friendships. Not with her place in your church. Not with her time with you in prayer and bible engagement. Not with her leisure. Not with a single solitary aspect of her life. She will be tempted to settle and to quit in her quest for your best for her, give her a relentless heart that won't stop until she has pleased you completely and satisfied her deepest longings wholly and fully. As John Piper said, "You are most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in You." Bring her that deep and rich fulfillment that comes from bringing you glory in every area of her life...it will bring her lasting and everlasting joy, Lord.
Heal her wounds that no one else sees. Whisper the words that no one knows she needs to hear but you. Comfort her when she is restless. Celebrate her when she honors you in the secret places without anyone else noticing. Help her when she feels overwhelmed and outmatched. Assure her when she begins to question herself doubting her worth and gifts. Love her unconditionally when she makes a mistake or falls on her face, pick her up and let her know she is loved because you are love not because she is perfect. Free her from jealousy and comparison that is so prevalent in this information age. Grant her peace and contentment even when she's doing nothing and is all by herself. Deepen her confidence and boldness so that she may lead fiercely when called upon. Convict her to be open and honest when she is prone to withdraw and hide. Orchestrate divine appointments just when she needs to encounter something or someone to speak right to the very things she is facing. You know how to do all these things and when to do all these things...I'm counting on you, God.
You are her Father, her heavenly and everlasting Father. I am her earthly father bound by time and space and limited by intellect and skill, but you have no limits, your love knows no bounds. So I seek you as her father to be the Father that I cannot be in this coming season of her life. You will always be there when I cannot be. You will know her deep soul when I am unable to see her inside self. You will be able to protect her from harm and guide her to where she truly belongs when I have no ability to know the future and to execute a divine plan...my eyes too myopic in their sight. You are all-knowing and all-seeing...you are the Father that can carry her like no other, carry her to the end where you will look at her and say "well done, you were a good and faithful servant, Kami". Oh, how I long for this to be said of my daughter, Kami. It is the greatest desire of my heart. So I entrust her to you this morning, Lord.
Though I cannot be with her, you can and are. You see her through and through and because of that can be her all in all. I ask you to pour out your Spirit upon her today, Lord, and every day of her life. Guard and guide my little girl, Jesus. Though I could never love her as you do, I love her with every fiber of my being in the best way I know how. And the best way I know how to love her right now is to share this prayer with you and to ask big things of you on her behalf. This is my humble cry. I want your will for Kami's life. More than anything. Amen."
